Pours a nice dark copper color with a decently thick, creamy off-white head that leaves nice rings of lacing. Faint, toffee-like aroma with hints of chocolate. Flavor has some sweet candied-sugar like notes with a backbone of chocolate, toffee and some bourbon like alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is decently thick and it finishes strong. Alcohol presence noted. Bartender said it was part of the Select series - but their website does not list a dopplebock - so entering it here. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Smooth malt profile with a cereal backbone. I wanted more spiciness and maybe even more sweetness, but it was still decent. Very creamy mouthfeel due to the hand pump. Light, almost artificially fruity bubblegum aroma, though with a lot of subtlety. A bit under carbonated. Distinct ABV flavor, whisky-like but very smooth with food. Some black olive notes, the flavor profile isn’t overly complex but it’s engaging.
