This beer has resurfaced in Cask Conditioned form. Pours a dark brown/maroon with a thick whipped cream looking head that persists and leaves thick lacing all the way down the glass. (5 for appearance!) Nose of plums and raisins. Mouthfeel is extremely creamy and milk-like. Taste contains notes of bread, raisins, plums, pear, nuts, caramel, and malt. Malt lingers on the finish which is smooth and has just a hint of tartness. The only minor negative I could find with this brew became apparent after I had drunk more than half the glass. After drinking a bit of it, a "chalky" aftertaste begins to build up on the tongue. By the end of the glass, the "chalky" buildup, apparent in the finish, was starting to become a little objectionable. The first several sips were outstanding, however.

Tap at Barcade: Muddy brown/maroon with a tan film of dense head. Rich malty aroma- ful of raisin, chocolate, plum, honey, but it’s nice and rounded. Creamy texture. Nice malt character. Rich yet balanced- some soft cocoa, honey, raisin and plum. Has a toasted dryish finish. A nice Doppelbock.

10th rating, lets make this bad boy official. Tap at Barcade. This was good, way way way way better than andygator, andygator fights this beer and dies in the first round. Pours brownish with a tan head. Nose is very sweet, with a rich malty feeling. Taste is sweet, caramel, very nice, full bodied dopplebock.

On tap at redfish grill. Pours a clear amber with a frothy light tan head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass. The aroma is a fruity malt with caramel. The taste is a sweet fruit with raisin and a nice bitter finish. A good doppelbock from abita.

On tap at The Chimes - East in Baton Rouge, La. Pours a nice dark copper color with a decently thick, creamy off-white head that leaves nice rings of lacing. Faint, toffee-like aroma with hints of chocolate. Flavor has some sweet candied-sugar like notes with a backbone of chocolate, toffee and some bourbon like alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is decently thick and it finishes strong. Alcohol presence noted. Bartender said it was part of the Select series - but their website does not list a dopplebock - so entering it here.

Clear copper with a tan head. Nice sweet, yeasty dark raison bread aromas. Medium body. Flavor mirrors the aroma with yeasty dark sweet malts and raisons. Not that bad. Draft@ Strange Brew.

Light mahogany with the patented Abita clingy camel head. Light, almost artificially fruity bubblegum aroma, though with a lot of subtlety. A bit under carbonated. Distinct ABV flavor, whisky-like but very smooth with food. Some black olive notes, the flavor profile isn’t overly complex but it’s engaging.

This was on cask at the Brewpub. Sweet alcohol aroma. Copper to dark brown in color. Smooth malt profile with a cereal backbone. I wanted more spiciness and maybe even more sweetness, but it was still decent. Very creamy mouthfeel due to the hand pump.
