Fall fest from Abita, brown 12 oz twist off cap bottle. The bottle is short and stubby like other Abita beers I’ve sampled. This has some stiff competition for the style, including hacker. Twist off the cap to reveal aroma of sweetness hint, background of a strong ale and typical festive smell. Clear brownish light yellow, the head is small and white, and then rapidly fades to leave a ring on the top. Taste has a nice impact, not overwhelming with alcohol, but it does let you know it is there. Lager with personality. The end leaves a shallow bite on the palate and the ol’ uvula senses a hint of bitterness tho relatively mild and acceptable for this style. Well behaved and enjoyable. This is a good beer but I rate the following October fests higher; Hacker, Hofbrau & Schell. This is on par with; Penn, City, Victory & Flying Dog.

had on tap at the nawlins hard rock, had with chicken tenders and a piece of a glove..??? ..nice stuff, sweet aroma...copper colour...kills the spice..a nice brew...

Bottle from Party Town, KY. Poured dark amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a thin texture. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

When I poured the bottle it looked like fall in a glass. Great amber color with a finger’s worth of creme colored suds, moderate retention. Aromas of light citrus and caramel, almost like a wheat beer. The palate is a bit hollow, but the flavor is good with a mellow bitter finish. Could be a bit fuller bodied, but I like it.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber, with a significant head that lingers. The aroma is roasted malt, with very little hop. The body is medium, with a full malt feel. Fairly true to the style.

(Bottle) Pours a light amber color, with a small off-white head. Caramel notes, with some honey aroma as well. Thin, malty palate, with average carbonation. Pretty good balance, but nothing exciting.

This one was a grower. I wasn’t immediately impressed, but started drinking it by the bucket by the time the Christmas Ale rolled around. Has a light, malty flavor with a hint of caramel.

Only two more Oktoberfest beers left in my fridge: Christian Moerlein Oktoberfest and Abita Fall Fest. So, tonight I will drink these two brews and that will be the end of Oktoberfest 2006 for me... The Abita Fall Fest is a clear, orange color. It has moderate carbonation and a foamy light orange head. The aroma is generic malt. The flavor is palt malt with a really strange taste that I can’t put my finger on. Whatever it is, its unpleasant and somewhat repulsive (maybe its just overly earthy or a strange hop bitterness). Once that passes, the finish has a light caramel flavor balanced with a soft hop bitterness. The palate is a bit thin, but it isn’t too fizzy. Overall I am pretty disappointed with this Abita offering. This is probably the worst of their beers (that I’ve had). The Christian Moerlein Oktoberfest was much better than this one, but for a really nice American micro Oktoberfest, give Goose Island’s or Samuel Smith’s a try... 12 oz bottle (Best before 1/30/07), $1.70 from The Party Source.
