Commercial Description:
Fleur-de-lis Restoration Ale is made with English Pale, Lager, Crystal and Cara Pils malted barley. We liberally hopped and dry hopped our Ale with American Cascade and Centennial hops and fermented it with California Ale yeast. The result is a brilliant gold ale with a rich body, mild bitterness and a snappy fresh citrus hop flavor and aroma.

12 oz bottle from Woodmans on Gammon Road in Madison, WI (October 2006) drunk in mid-October at the parents’ house from a pint glass, bit above fridge temperature. Translucent to clear amber-gold color, bubbling action in the body, with a moderate smooth-bubbled off-white head that decays quickly....doughy, lightly spicy aroma, hints of pepper and oregano but mostly it’s slushy ill-defined pale malts....vague dry grassy hops struggle futilely to find a presence amdist watery brackish malts....strong, somewhat artificial carbonation and heavy filtration lend to an unappelaing soda-like, metallic finish. OK I feel good at the 1.00 that went to charity for buying a 6er of this turkey, but I don’t feel bad about leaving the other 5 bottles to my less-discerning parents to consume.

Sampled at Broudys Holiday Beerfest,Jacksonville FL 12/2/2006. Tasting this beer amongst a lineup of world class beers put it at a real disadvantage. It was OK, and a much better choice than a macro, but unimpressive and ultimately mediocre. The style itself really doesnt offer much in my opinion. Refreshing, drinkable, forgetable.

Pours a clear, light amber color and is topped by a frothy, initially two-finger thick, pale, tan tinted, white colored head. The aroma is a mix of light caramel malts and spicy hops. Notes of sweet citrus and light herbs intermingle with notes of toasty grain, hints of toffee and caramelized malt. Nice light aroma that strikes a good balance between hops and malt.

Toasty malt notes up front lead to tart citrus hop notes in the middle. The tartness caries through to the finish where it is joined by some more malty toasted grain notes. Quite easy drinking, the beer is quite light on the palate and really just flows down the throat. A light malt sweetness lingers on in the finish, but really this beer does not leave much of a lasting impression on my tastebuds. A light bitterness weaves its way throughout this beer, but at times is really not that noticeable. In the end this is a light, clean, easy drinking ale that I could easily pass up for something with a bit more character, but would certainly not turn my nose up at it given a macro alternative.

A golden orange pour with a light off white head, An aroma of light malt, corn and a hint of hops. A flavor of some malt and a lite bitter. Smooth palate with just a tad of fizz and a bit thin. A pretty clean beer not bad at all.

Golden color (almost clear) with an off-white crown. Moderate amount of carbonation and splotchy lacing. Grassy and floral hop aroma with a little doughy maltiness in the background. Flavor is fresh floral and light citrus hops (orange/lemon - must be the Centennial in there!) with some buttery malt. Finish is has somewhat a somewhat "green" hop bitterness. Overall this beer is pretty well balanced. A bit thin on the palate, but still enjoyable and refreshing. Another solid Abita brew! I’m glad I was able to try a bottle of this since it seems to be getting difficult to find around my neck of the woods now... Actually, the further and further I get through this bottle, the more I like it. It reminds me of a good English bitter or Pale Ale in some ways... 12 oz bottle, $1.90 from Jungle Jim’s.

This bottled brew from a restaurant poured a large sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that was and left behind a transparent softly carbonated yellow-orange colored body and a very good lacing. The strong aroma was hoppy malty and dough. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and mild hops. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Better flavor than the other Abita beers I’ve had, enjoyed this quite alot for the style, a slight bitterness to this one, but flavor was still lacking for me, ok brew overall. Drinkable.
