Commercial Description:
Fleur-de-lis Restoration Ale is made with English Pale, Lager, Crystal and Cara Pils malted barley. We liberally hopped and dry hopped our Ale with American Cascade and Centennial hops and fermented it with California Ale yeast. The result is a brilliant gold ale with a rich body, mild bitterness and a snappy fresh citrus hop flavor and aroma.

Bottle. Deep golden with a nice poofy head. Little aroma except maybe a hint of grass. Smooth mouthfeel. Almost a metallic sense to the flavo, but mostly a smooth malt without the starchiness. Just a tickle of hops.

Definitely mis-labeled this beer. Seems much more like an APA/IPA than a golden ale to me. Pretty grainy and dry but not in the good IPA form. Another pretty below avg. beer from Abita.

Clear amber with small white head. Medium sweet aroma with notes of spiced orange, caramel, buttered toast. Light bodied, watery. Flavor was weak and watery. Some hint of sweetness but mostly water.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear amber with an off-white head. Lovely hoppy, floral aroma. Medium body with some caramel malt but otherwise dominated by floral accents. Dry, hoppy finish. A straightforward and nice brew that really comes closer to an APA than to a Golden Ale. 270306

Gold body with a very light, non-existant white head. Aroma is typical of a Golden Ale, malts, honey, light corn (almost mead like). Flowery body, light hops... fair, but not great taste. Bland ending, again fair but not great.

Bottled, BB 4/3/06. Poured a clear, dim amber with a tall cap of frothy white head. Nose had notes of citrus and flowery hops, wheat, and bready pils malts. Flavor was a unpleasantly-constructed tapestry of grainy wheat, corn, sour lemon rind, bread, and tacky caramel sweetness... not bad elements in and of themselves, but did not work well here. Lighter-bodied. Palate was all over the place with sour notes, wheaty tartness, soap, and bitterness... again did not flow. Great cause, though.
