Pours a slightly hazy gold with a quickly disappearing fizzy white head. Lightly buttery aroma, some light malt underneath with a grassy hop smell. More butter in the flavor as well. Beyond that, a little bitterness sneaks thru on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little sticky with lively fine bubbled carbonation. Overall, I just can’t get past the buttery flavor in this. Just donate a dollar directly to the hurricane relief effort if you want to help out New Orleans. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Lagerish, yeasty, doughy, euro aroma. Slightly hazy amber body with steady carbonation. Small, slightly off-white head and decent lace. Not bad at all. A light bitterness makes this brew better than the majority of Abita’s other brews. Somewhat dry, but pretty well balanced. I like it. Well done. Probably their best brew. Will be interesting to see if they keep it after the Katrina donation thing has run its course. PeterA (339), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 10, 2006 The aroma wasn’t particularly strong, but it had some nice hoppy-ness. The color was a light copper, with a white head that didn’t last very long. The flavor was on the sweet side, with a much less bitter finish than I would have expected. The mouthfeel was light. A good, but not great beer. Marc (477), Yokosuka, Japan
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2006 Clean light foral nose with toaches of soap and leafy hops. Golden/amber body with a meduim/thin head that turns into a white fringe. Light mouthfeel with touches of hops, carmel and flowers. Finishes clean with a little carmel. trafford (171), Germantown, Tennessee, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2006 This was the first Golden/Blond ale that we have tried in our beer club, and it wasn’t that different than other Pale Ales. IT had a nice dark golden color with some mild hops. Hey with a $1 going towards New Orleans, I will support them as often as I can find it here in Memphis. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Light golden color, Foamy head. I smelled swimming pool when I took a wiff of this. Flavor was alright, mild bitterness, some sweetness. But I was glad I didn’t have to drink the whole bottle. bhensonb (4359), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 5, 2006 Tasting this after jambalaya. Works well with Cajun. Clean aroma, but hard to pin down. The finish is bitter hop. A very clean drink. The principal aspect is a very good mouth feel. A bit tangy. The finish suggests another. sethdude (603), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2006 Pours a macro-like gold, head with big bubbles that dissipates quickly. No lacing. Aroma is very much like a macro, overly sweet bouquet with virtually no hops. Fortunately, flavor is redeeming. Malt profile is very reminiscent of a Kolsch, but without the Kolsch yeast, it is quite different. A mild, fruity, citric undertone, and a definitive bitter moment with a dry finish, and a malty aftertaste. A very good summer brew, I’d bet, and at least a portion of profits go to a good cause. This is a good example of how a lighter style can be really good. A good beer for those just discovering craft beer.
