williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Nov 7, 2009 Has a cloudy golden yellow with a proud finger of head. Looks more thick and chunky than a typical lager.
Dry lager/pilsnery malt smell. Light but clearly all-malt. Bitter but mild (Hallertauer?) hops. The malt is of a very German-lagery variety.
Sweetness to the bitter malt taste. The hops are an accent but they are strong. The taste matches the smell very well. It’s a nice lager, but much better than the typical pale macro fare.
Feels light and bubbly; actually has the feel of a nice Belgian ale. A little spiky. It’s a light and easy drinking lager with some nice flavor. A good alternative to the stuff you might otherwise be drinking this summer. beercamel (83), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 15, 2009 Beer pours a funny teal like golden yellow. Sour wheat and bread taste. tastes kind of like taco bell mild sauce with water, white medium head. goes flat very fast and starts to taste like miller high life. Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 25, 2009 Cloudy dark yellow, thin what head. Wheaty, tangy aroma, with a touch of white bread. Tangy, wheaty flavor, fairly crisp finish. Nicely drinkable. BTW, my notes say Abita Golden Ale, but I didn’t save the bottle. Same beer? sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2009 pours very clear golden with thcik white head.
Aroma is grainy, with notes of corn.
Taste, reminded me a lot of pilsnener, weak, some wheat, leaves a nasty metalic thick palate mouthfeel with some grauny/corn touch.
Sweet, easy to drink, but really another weak effort by Abita. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 18, 2009 Bottle with Butters at the First Cellar Reduction. Pours white head and golden body. Malty nose. Malty body with some hop spiciness. Overall it is bland but quite quaffable. jdmaher58 (22), Dover, Ohio, USA Feb 12, 2009 I don’t get it. How can a brewery that makes many a+++ beers produce such crap. This is not worthy of their name. Baumgartner (108), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Feb 5, 2009 Bottle poured to Glass. Pours a golden yellow(slight haze) with a small fizzy white head. Head disappeared almost instantly. Smells of pale malt and hops Slightly sour, Yeasty aroma. Tastes of pale malt (straw) and very mellow bitters in the finish. Fairly dry finish dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Jan 24, 2009 slightly hazy gold color, not much head, slight lacing. aroma has a touch of banana, but is mostly air. flavor has a bit of grain, a bit of grass. pretty mild and uneventful. light bodied, kinda fizzy. pretty disappointing. i think the banana becomes more prevalent as it warms.
