Commercial Description:
Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

One of the 12-oz bottles sampled from the Abita Party Pack, acquired from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a thin and fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light white bread malt and some citrus hops. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with some flavor or corn malt and citrus zest. Finish is very watery, crisp and clean cut with no aftertaste.

Golden yellow transparent pilsner body; head is swift in its descent and thins to a partial white... Hallertau hops noticeable and metallic malt is present,...predicatble, but not annoying...slow, effervescent bubbles... creamy, soft palate with a late malt kick... crisp, soft rather unobtrusive flavor... golden, yes--consistent in its modesty and a true member of its style...

I gained a love for Abita during my yearly trips to New Orleans for Mardi Gras so they hold a special place in my heart. Aroma was so so. Mostly beer with a slight light malt appearance. Pur was a light bubbly gold with a nice 1 finger white head. Taste was crisp and clean. Light malt comes in and out with some metal sticking its ugly head in. Great for the summer.

Short stubby 12 oz brown bottle with a twist off cap. Olfactory is slightly rotten Pennsylvania farm pond water. Nearly hazy pale yellow brew that looks almost wheat in nature. Fairly mild pale lager impressions. Somewhat like the Light version with a little more personality, of course. Decent carbonation, could use more. Cardboard is absent in this one. Not much alky flavors present. Finish is wet watery straw or hay. IMHO, comes on more like a pale yellow american lager, not a premium.

From bottle at tasting : Semi-clear very light pour. Thin watery body, and pretty much no flavour. Very bland and not good.

Pale light yellow pour, with a small white bubbly head. A touch on the cloudy side. Lots and lots of carbonation bubbles raise from the bottom to the top of the glass. Aroma is mostly a light clean malt with citrus character. The flavor is mostly watered down hop, the light malt from the aroma is not very pronounced in the taste. The Finish is fast and thin. A touch of a funny aftertaste. Nothing special here.

Wow, this is not so good. Prominent sulfur aroma, moderately clean flavor, somewhat soft palate with touch of spicy hops. Overall thin with some sulfur in the finish.
