Commercial Description:
Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

OK for lager, but overall pretty bland. I taste mostly grain, with very light hops. Part of a World Market variety pack.

From a twist cap 12 oz. stubby brown bottle with a notch best before date on the back label. Poured a slightly hazy pale yellowish golden with a thin foamy white head. Aromas of a grainy dry biscuit, simple, but nice. Good carbonation and a crisp, smooth, clean finishing medium bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant, smooth taste, an nice grain bready with a touch of sour spicy hoppiness, and a clean grainy finish, simple, but effective, good, easy drinkability. A simple, but really nice lager from Abita, tasty and balanced at a affordable price.

Bottle as part of a summer sampler pack. Pours golden with a very slight hazy and a thick white head. Not much aroma, just a tad amount of lager yeast. Flavor, eh.....sweet creamed corn. Very watery palate. Thin finish. Very low hopping rate, like with macros. I could see this as a lawnmower beer or drinking this with spicy crawfish.

This plus crawfish equals good. Really useless without crawfish. Otherwise forgetable.

(bottle - 12 oz) Light yellow, almost white in color with very little in the way of foam. Aroma is dry and grainy with hints of hops and corn. Taste is very dry, stale, and grainy with loads of corn and a slight sweetness at the end. Very dry finish and very watery.

Abita Golden Lager 12 oz bottle Recent bottling, quaffed 08/06 Medium pour in a pint glass. Poured bright yellow with a quickly diminishing 1/8 inch white head. Smelt of cornmeal with no hoppiness. Taste was all corn with a bit of sweetness quickly retreating into a watery finish. Mouthfeel was carbonated and light. Overall, a light golden that fails on all aspects except for its watery quenching abilities.

Crystal clear yellow color with white head. Some decent hop and sweet malt aromas. Smells like a pilsner. Light tasting beer that tastes like a pilsner. Very light with no real flavor flaws. Not too bad.

Very simple...I guess if its hot outside something to down without thinking. Lemon taste is somewhat present. More like a weak pilsner. Oh yea, made with "real" spring water. Yum Yum!!
