Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 13, 2004 The current ubiquitious drink of New Orleans.... I had one the other night in replacement of a spoiled bottle of Three Floyd’s Robert the Bruce (the beer poured black). Abita’s Golden has a nice crisp taste over a mild malty aroma. It’s steps ahead of the mass-market swill. A very decent lager, you’ll usually find some in my refridgerator.
unclemattie (1717), Georgia, USA Dec 5, 2008 Short 12oz twistoff bottle. Bright golden yellow color. tall fizzy white head. Aroma of corn meal and straw. Flavor is very sweet. Not a balanced beer. Very little hop presence. Some bitterness. Maybe 1 or 2 IBUs. Corn sugar sweet flavor and that is all. Same ole Abita. Poobah (74), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Oct 25, 2008 Golden color with light head retention and some lacing. Some malt on the nose. Smooth entry with light maltiness and slight carbonation that becomes honey sweet in the end. Fairly light body that is a bit watery. Drinks like a typical American lager, only a little better. gsmitty80 (550), Washington DC, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a cloudy yellow. Not much in terms of malting or hops, just a consistant corny/wheat taste. Alchohol hints at a little more than what it is. Decent offering. blutt59 (955), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 3, 2008 bottle, thanks to bu11zeye, cloudy yellow color, good foamy head, very full mouthfeel, buttery with lemon and other citrus notes, nice bu11zeye (3887), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2008 (12oz bottle) Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with a small white head. Light aroma of grass, lemon zest, cereal, and grain. Flavor of grassy hops and grain with a watery mouthfeel.
