Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

lightly cloudy copper body with orange highlight, average white head, and fair lacing; bright, toasted flavor with a basic balance between malts and hops; somewhat sharp palate; decent IPA.

Location: Purchased at a liquor store in Rockville. Fall ’08

Overall Impression: Ok IPA, not great, but definately something I would drink again. Certainly not near the top of its style.

pours light copper with white head. Aroma is fruity/hoppy with light malts/caramel and strong citrus nose. Taste was soapy hoppy with plenty of caramel malts characteristics. Finish with light bitter citrus touch, medium carbonation.

Pours a nice copper with a small off-white head and a citrusy aroma. Very light on hops, making this sessionable but not impressive. I did not feel like I was drinking an IPA at all, but it is still pretty tasty.

Dark orange pour. Off white head. Hops on the nose, well balanced with sweet notes. Hops in the taste are felt more on the finish than up front. Slight hops on the after but hints of sweet. Very good IPA.

Aroma is light and crisp, with earthy notes of hops. Flavor is a bit on the light side of the hop profile, with hints of citrus and pine coming through the malt. Bitterness is low. Although the overall quality of the beer is good, was not impressed by the aroma/flavor....it seems to be missing something.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Nice color and aroma. Flavor is light, not big on hop kick. Could be a good intro beer for people that shy away from hoppy beers.
