Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

A strange sour aroma to this. The flavor on this is just a bit funkified. Some maltiness in the finish, but mostly not that good.

Tap at Barcade. Big, hoppy flavor, very juicy, rich, clean, definitely dry hopped. Aroma is blue cheese and hops, with a little malt. Lemony. Excellent IPA, very fresh.

Clarity good on this one. Orange dash amber pour. Nice big fluff of a head. Hangs around for duration. Nose is sweet with candied malts and alcohol. Taste is bitter, and at first, abrasive. warms up nicely after a while and opens up to citrus and candied malts, bitter hops, and some pine notes. not too bad. gets kind of watery towards the end.

Pours a hazy medium amber with a smallish off white head. Aroma is sweet and citrusy. Taste is nice citrusy hop with a little bit of malt sweetness and nice crisp bitter finish. Pretty good for Abita.

12oz bottle at Cypress Grill on December 14, 2008. A pure white head... something I wasnt expecting. Otherwise, a pretty good, clean IPA. Drinks more like a pale. My favorite so far from Abita. Will drink again.

12oz bottle poured a medium clear orange color with a large off white foamy head. Aroma of pine needles and citrus. Thin bodied citrus and caramel flavor with a bitterly sweet finish.

Pours from 12 oz bottle a nice coppery color, light almond foamy head. Aroma of light citrus hops, caramel tones with wet forest moss. Flavour much of the same with a slight cotton candy flare with slight toffee accents. Pretty decent beer, though not quite bitter for an IPA, easily sessionable, rather tasty!

From a fresh cask at Barcade: Pours a deep hazy orange with a thin off white head. The aroma is very crisp and citrusy. Smells like Centennials were used giving off a spicy character along with fresh tangerines. Great creamy body. The flavor has a crisp citrusy hop character. Softly malty, giving it a biscuity base. The hops are at the fore, and offer both a spiciness and fruitiness. Creamy citruses, lychee and a piny bitterness. This was surprisingly a great IPA. If it is always in the condition I had it, it is very underrated.
