Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

To me this one is on par with most ipa’s i’ve had. Maybe a little weaker on the hops than some but I kinda prefer it like that.

Poured a copper color with a hint of fruit and hops. Not quite as hoppy as most IPAs I prefer - came off more as a pale ale to me. Not the best IPA I have had but certainly not the worst.

Draft. Copper pour with a frothy off-white head. Definitely pine on the nose. Based on the smell I was expecting something more astringent, but this beer had a nice sweet tone for an IPA. Good solid hoppy finish.

Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head that dissipates to a small cap quckly and leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma is very well balanced with some earthy hops, definitely grassy, with some generous caramel malts. The taste lacked a bit for me as the hops are present but not nearly as well balanced with the malts as the nose would suggest. There is a fairly unpleasant bitterness that lingers through the finish. The mouthfeel is fairly light with lots of carbonation. This is an average IPA that just doesn’t quite deliver in the taste department. One and done for me on this one.

Draught at GABF 2008. Clear amber - offwhite head. High hoppy, knækbrød, swedish flatbread, flowery, piney, light sweetness, light malty. Nice - high drinkability.

orange amber color, nose is kinda sweet pine, little foam with nice lacing, flavor is balanced with the malts and hops intertwining but never overdoing one another. Nice Ipa

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: black tea like with hint of amber , large fair top , some lace shown 4-
Nose: Brown and crystal malts with hint of caramel , black tea , British hops blended with west coast , sweet fruity end.
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Cookie dough like, sweet with bitterness covered in caramel vanilla sweets. Creamy textured, not as drinkable as it could be. Abita went different path than traditional IPA , not sure if it was intended.
