Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

Light and drinkable, this IPA is good for a session IPA. It’s not aggressively hoppy and can feel like a pale ale, but it does have that nice citrus backbone that I love so much. No pine at all, which is welcomed by me, but it also serves to draw the beer down on bitterness.

aaaaaeeeeieee!! Abita finally releases an IPA. This one was awesome. Great malt character balanced out well with the hops. Abita makes a great beer and this one represents their brewery very well and shows that we can expect a lot out of them in the near future.

Bottle from T’s Liquor in Tempe, AZ. Pours amber with a decent beige head. Fruity hop aroma over mild caramel. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is resin and fruit (citrus?) over caramel. It seems a bit harsh, but arguably balanced. Not a smooth one.

Bottle pours clear amber with thick off white head and very nice lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and pine hops. First taste is malt but it is balanced quickly with citrus and pine hops. There is slight linger of pine hops. Hops really take over as the beer warms and finish is pine hops. Starts out like a pale ale and warms to an IPA.

12 oz purchased from Jazz City in NoLa. Aroma is sugary maltiness. Hop profile is barely existent, save for a wisp of bitterness. This may be an old bottle - the place was a gift/liquor/beer/t-shirt store. Still, this finishes smooth and buttery - a save from an otherwise bland beer.

It pours a coppery orange pour with a really creamy, thick, and long-lasting off-white head. Fruity aroma with a bunch of hops. Taste is malty and doughy at first then it goes to getting moderately hoppy. It gets to be the most bitter at its finish. Palate is nice and creamy with a medium body. Pretty good indeed. Too bad that my friends drank almost this entire six-pack.
