Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a one finger off-white head. Light aroma of grassy and citrus hops with a hint of sweet malt in the background. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Good.

Bottle. Pours hazy apricot, off white head. Aroma is hoppy (citrus), caramel, grass. Flavor is hoppy (bitter leaves) and malty; lots of wheat after taste here, sort of unusual for an IPA. This beer isn’t a peaty disaster, but it’s not super crispy and floral like I heart in my IPAs.

Decent IPA.

bottle. pours a clear middling copper color, pretty big head that clears quick, leaving a decent ring. Aromas of metallic citric bitterness and toasted caramel. Flavor improves over the nose a bit... sharp but not overdone bitterness, tangy citrus, and mellow toasted caramel. Average on the palate- finishes on the bitter side, decently balanced going down.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a dense beige head. The aroma is mild caramel malt and some citrus hop bitterness. The flavor is lightly malty to open, followed by citrus and herbal hops in the finish. There is an overall bittterness that is present, but not aggressive. Medium bodied and fairly smooth to drink.

Bottle. Poured an amber/copper color with a pretty good white head that lasted to the end. Lacing was fair. Aroma was balanced between the hops and malt with the hops coming through initially. Flavor also was balanced well between the hops and malt. Much like a good English IPA. Mouthfeel was pretty good. This is a highly drinkable IPA.I enjoyed this beer

A rather good IPA, though I admit that I’m no fan of the genre. The palate is well-done toast and grass, clover hops, and spring water.

Decent mix of sweet and bitter hop. Light aroma, some roasty toastiness. Not too hoppy, actually could use a little bit more.

Purchased at the Winn Dixie in Abita Springs. Dark red brown - impressive white head. It’s an ipa with the volume turned down. This could be a "starter" ipa for folks not used to this style.
