Bottle into Tulip glass. Pours a goldish brown-orange with a almost white head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is a very enjoyable citrus with orange and maybe some lemon detected. Flavor is very hoppy, not enough of the citrus from the aroma, unfortunately, as that promised a balance of fruit and bitter. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant taste. The palate was a lingering hoppish bitterness, maybe slightly sour because something didn’t sit quite right for a little bit after finishing the bottle (this is consistent with the first bottle I had). Seems slightly oily, too. Overall, much better balance compared to many of the hopped up IPA’s thoughtlessly tossed at the marketplace. This one proves that hops needn’t and shouldn’t be the one factor considered when brewing an "extreme" American-style IPA.

Poured with a nice foamy head and lots of lace. Good rich amber color. Good hoppy malty nose. Flavor is very tasty and not fruity. Very nice body. Drinkable beer. Kind of a strange flat finish though. Would have rated it better except for that. This one I’m having at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse where it just came in.

shared by Dickinsonber. Amber in color with a small off white head. Aroma: of light citrus, flowers, and light pale malts. Taste is pretty simple- citrus hops, light floral notes, with a light to medium sweet pale malt body. Bitterness is moderate. Not too bad, thanks Paul.

12oz bottle from Degarth. Dark amber boddy, stout off white head that has great retention and some excellent lacing. This thing is a monster, very dense and well formed. Caramel malts, Starburst, perfume hops and soap on the nose. Tastes very similar, artificial citrus candy and caramel malts being the stars, with the hops being a secondary force. Bitterness picks up throughout, but it’s never overly apparent or forward. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel. Finish is lengthy, citrus fruits, perfume hops and at the end some astringency and bitterness.

Bottle - Copper / orange color with white head. Hoppy nose with notes of floral citrus and grain. Flavors of citrus, more hops flavor than malted grain (like lemon grass), but still the grain is subtuly in there. Good hoppy finish - decent IPA. Goes great with spicy jambalaya or crawfish.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange golden color with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very hoppy and light malt. The taste is citrus grapefruit with a sweet finish. A good IPA from Abita

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours with a modest haze with copper body and thin off white head. The aroma starts with a pulse of pine and grassy hops followed by mild somewhat muted maltiness that’s mostly bits of caramel, toffee and mild roastiness. The flavor brings forth pine hop bitterness and grassiness. Then it slowly builds into caramel and mildly roasted maltiness to and through the midway point in the experience. The hop bitterness resurges some into the finish. Nice tasting IPA.

Not bad. Love Abita. Brings me back to my Mardi Gras days. Aroma of strong hops...mostly earthy with some pine and at times citrusy. Pour was nice enough. Dark gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was a little weak for an IPA. Strong malt backbone that hijacks the taste until a bitter hop aftertaste. This beer is clearly more about the malt than the hops. Not my style IPA, but a good stepping stone.
