Small gray head with decent retention and some spotty lace hanging around. Clear, copper color. Nose is lightly fruity, spicey with a slight maltiness. Body is lightly medium with a busy little carbonation level. Gentle fruity flavors, orangey, citrus and some lightly sweet malts, light honey notes. Finish is almost dry, a touch fruity with a pretty laid back hop bite. One of the better brews from Abita in awhile. An easy quaffer.

Nice and bitter for sure. Haven’t seen this one in NJ, but it was the first beer I had on my first visit to New Orleans, which maybe made it taste even better. Hooray local beer!

Pours rich copper color with dissipating tan head. There’s no real lacing. Pretty good pine aroma and hints of toasted bread crust. Very intense bitter flavor but without the overhwelming citrus component. It’s got an undeniable roastyness. A nice offering.

better than expected this brew is adequae in body and in flavor. beyond that these bottles have a flavor component that is clearly and strongly " celery seed" and what is odd about that is it seems ok! the finish is tight and the hops are appropriate - and i find them citrus and grapefruit like. tthe malt component is fairly good and this is quite an interesting brew.

Pours a transparent bright copper with a large airy, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasted malt and some piny resinous hops. Body starts lightly sweet and toasty malty with some fairly fresh piny bittering and flavor hops before a crisp, drier finish. Hops aren’t quite as assertive as I like in an IPA, but this one’s quite drinkable and smooth.

Copper with a whitish head that provides a little lacing. Strong hop aromas and even distribution of hops on the palate. Some citrus, some grapefruit, some pine. Pretty straightforward profile. Slightly astringent on the finish. A good accompaniment to creole, tex-mex, spicy food.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber color with a frothy white head. Nose is 50/50 malt and hops. Palate is more malt than hops. Maybe I’m used to the west coast IPAs, but this one isn’t as hoppy as an IPA should be. OK lacing and a slight sticky bitter aftertaste. Meh, it’s probably a decent local IPA.

Pours with a frothy, ample three-finger thick, pale tan colored head that leaves a fair amount of lacing on the sides of my tulip glass. The beer is a brilliantly clear, cranberry stained, amber color that shows a bright, reddish copper hue when held up to the light. The aroma is a mix of earthy, herbal notes and sweet citrus aromatics; I get notes of orange peel, tangelo, light lychee, slightly green herbal notes that are recently pulled from the moist earth, a touch of peppery aromatics, currants, . A supporting malt backdrop provides touches of dusty, crushed malt, biscuit notes and a touch of caramelized bread crust.

A herbal hop bitterness greets my mouth from the start and lingers on throughout the flavor profile. Perhaps a bit light bodied for an IPA, this helps to keep this beer nice and drinkable. A malt sweetness (lightly caramelized) provides a counterpoint to the hop character that leans towards grassy, almost hay like notes; perhaps a touch of pine; an earthy, almost savory herbal character; and some soft sweet citrus zest (bergamot) and berry notes. Despite not being over the top, this is fairly lightly malt influenced, it really just plays a supporting role here (which is as it should be in anything with IPA on the label); lightly toasty, biscuit-accented, slight bread crust and some touches of toffee are noticeable more towards the finish than anywhere else.

A decent, if not good, beer to be drinking a couple of for an evening. It is perhaps a bit on the soft side for an American made IPA, but it is still full flavored and enjoyable. Basically this is quite an enjoyable beer, even if it is not mind-blowing in any way.
