Commercial Description:
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. 12oz - Copper colored liquid under light tan head. No nose whatsoever (on an IPA!). The palate was real nice, hops and malt working in tandem. i liked it better as it warmed.

Hearty and grassy tasting. Not bad but doesn’t come together the way I think of the IPA style. Good bittering. Sweet corn and pineapple aroma. Lovely color.

Clear amber with a beige head that leaves good lace. Sweet citrus aroma. Caramel and pine taste. A bit too sweet

Louisianan #1, courtesy of Ma Jenner. Pours brilliant copper with a fine white collar breaking down into clumps. Mellow floral aroma with Turkish delight, lychee and passion fruit. Sweetened iced tea flavour with orange, rose, sweet potato, cardboard, fish and chip batter and buttery shortbread notes. Feeble IPA, but still something likeable, flat, buttery and English about it. Yep, an amateurish pasteurised English bitter of about 4.5% trying to taste US-influenced. Needs the hops turning WAY up.

Bottle. Amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Somewhat musty aroma with grapefruit and light malt. Grapefruit and pice flavor with light darker malts. Medium bodied. OK bitterness. Grapefruit and pine lingers with a light vegetal note.

bottle with a twist top and no date... clear but a nice looking copper colored pour with a soft frothy tan tinted off white head and webby lacing. it smells of honey, cereal grain, orange, caramel and flowers. the flavor is a tamed down version of the nose with floral/tea-like notes, a dryness and moderate bitterness throughout. bitter is pronounced on the finish. medium bodied with an average mouth feel... a touch spicy, prickly and easy to drink without having to think about it.6/4/5/3/12/3.0

Bottle. Pours a nice orange-amber color with a big off white head. Very sweet citrus aroma. Flavor starts sticky and sweet with a strange hoppy bitterness eventually kicking in. Finish is very dry and malty. Pretty heavily carbonated and leaves decent lacing throughout. A different take on the style with an off taste that keeps this from being more enjoyable.

Bottle from Bevmo: Created a fluffy layer of foam for a head while the liquid was a brass copper color. The aroma was bland with a mixture of malts and a pinch of hop pellets. Flavor was semi hopped and had a note of citrus but because they balance of malts to hops this added a caramel malt flavor similar to a amber ale. Not at all impressed and regretted buying an entire six pack of this.
