ghawener (729), San Salvador, El Salvador Mar 12, 2006 Thanks to richbrew. Bottle: Rubi red colour, small head, aroma is potent, sweet with notes of fruits and wood. Taste is hoppy, earthy, woody, sweet. As with other Abitas it is quite high on carbonation.
Soonah (532), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Sep 9, 2008 Poured a standard ruby brown color with a short fizzy off-white head that offered little if any lacing. The aroma was malty, lightly spicy and barely hoppy. The flavor was malty with some dryness that could have been from hops? Light spice as well. Thin mouthfeel, easy drinking. Decent. ansermadide (261), Kyle, Texas, USA Jul 15, 2008 (12oz bottle on July 15, 2008 from 6pk trade with William) First of all, before I even pour this, the guy that gave this 6 pack to me said he bought a case of these for only $10. Should I be scared? Red label, "Abita Ale Red Ale". Pours a semi-cloudy orange amber into pint glass with small head, steady carbonation, quickly falling lacing. Yeasty grainish aroma. Flavor is... not that great. I think I made a face with this one. Very light and watery body. Spicy aftertaste. Now... that flavor... bitter yeast. That’s about all I get from it. It’s a bit weird... definitely funky, metallic. I’m still making a funny face. I’d better get used to it. I have 5 left. SudsMcDuff (1034), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston,TX, Texas, USA Jul 14, 2008 came to my store after mardi gras but what can you say ... has some good foam attributes ... delicious stuff, caramel and other retro red flavours .. very rock lobster ... sure to be an absolute people pleaser... niggles? pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 6-20-08 bottle <br />
Clear amber red orange with a very thick nice frothy head. Smell is very light and has a touch of dough and ever growing rye. Flavor is a hint funky dough in there. Also there is a touch of rye in the flavor as well. Very carbonated with a bitter metallic aftertaste. dado50 (1), Shreveport, Louisiana, USA does not count Jun 22, 2008 Abita makes good beer. The aroma was pleasant; the red color, clear pleasing to the eye, the flavor smooth, excites the palate from the first taste to the last swallow, best from a glass not the bottle to enjoy every drop. To bad this is a seasonal brew.
