| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Light amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is a light caramel mattiness, along with a nice nuttiness to it. Taste is a smooth nuttiness, I get more of a hazelnut and almond taste rather then pecans, followed by a light maltiness. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Cask at Barcade. Dullish, steamed rice aroma, driftwood, sap, very wet hops. Subtle but complex and nice. Flavor is sweet, mild and balanced, with a definite nuttiness, and still a light but distinct hoppiness. I very much enjoyed drinking this. I think the fresh cask pour helped this one tons. blipp (1679), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours orange with an off white head. Sweet caramel aroma, a bit nutty. The flavor is mostly sweet with some dry roasted nuts in the finish. Not bad. DrnkMcDermott (1849), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 8, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Okay. My brief sojourns through the south and southwest have shown me many pecan producers trying to use up excess production: BBQ smoking wood, mulch, etc. Now this. Well. Pours slightly darker than amber, and a little hazy. A little too much oil to sustain many bubbles. Smell malty, with a backing of light hardwood indeed. Taste does indeed have a little nuttiness. I keep trying not to bring up more “woody” descriptions, but they’re there nonetheless. An extra bit of spiciness and even nut butter. I am straining to quantify the description, but this an “odd ingredient” beer that makes good use of its oddity instead of going for shock value. unclemattie (2416), Georgia, USA

short 12oz twistoff bottle. Pours medium amber rocky white head. A nonexistant aroma of pecan shells. light malt scent. Well balanced character. Light flavors of caramel malt and light hop. Overall its slighly boring. No nutty flavors. no toasted malt complexity. how about a brown ale? Not what I expected. or wanted.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange to copper color with a hefty off white head which deflates quickly to a medium volume. Has a slightly burnt aroma that leads into a bit of a toasted pecan smell, reminiscent of over toasting some pecans in a fry pan. There is also a hint of sweetness, probably malt. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation, but some sort of off-putting note in the taste. This leads into an ending with a slightly smokey finish, but mostly just reminds me of cheap lager. It may be that I just ended up with an off bottle, but having seen it appear on the shelves within the last couple months, I know it’s fresh… I’m usually impressed with Abita’s stuff, but this one just wasn’t up to snuff.
