Abita Pecan Harvest Ale

Beer pours lightly cloudy, amber color with a nicely retained off white head. Aroma is mostly malty with bread and nutty notes predominant. Flavor is initially sweet bread with a light pecan finish. No noticable hops. A decent amber.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange to copper color with a hefty off white head which deflates quickly to a medium volume. Has a slightly burnt aroma that leads into a bit of a toasted pecan smell, reminiscent of over toasting some pecans in a fry pan. There is also a hint of sweetness, probably malt. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation, but some sort of off-putting note in the taste. This leads into an ending with a slightly smokey finish, but mostly just reminds me of cheap lager. It may be that I just ended up with an off bottle, but having seen it appear on the shelves within the last couple months, I know it’s fresh… I’m usually impressed with Abita’s stuff, but this one just wasn’t up to snuff.

The aroma is mostly malty, earthy, only a slight sign of pecans or nuts. The appearance is very attractive, a nice reddish/brown, clear, carbonation bubbles, decent off-white head, lacing on glass. The flavor is definitely pecan, nutty, some sweet malts, honey, molasses come through. The finish has a slight hop bite, starting as the beer heads for the back of the throat. Clean finish. The mouthfeel is medium thick. Nice enjoyable beer, but not a great Brown Ale by any means.

This was a goo done. Nutty, althoughthe pecan was a little wierd. Nice malty. Dark brown, off white head, nice lacing. It was a good beer. If it’s around I would get it again.

12oz bottle. Pours clearish amber with a moderate offwhite head, good lace. Smells nutty and sweet malty, earthy. Tastes nutty and sweet caramelly, brown sugar maltiness. Medium body, subdued carbonation.

It is what it says it is. That just isn’t all that good. I can’t think of someone I’d recommend this to; I don’t think it is a fit for the taste of virtually anyone.

Bottle into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours a clear amber, with a thin, fizzy off-white head that fizzles quickly. Nose is lots of nutty pecan, toasty, clean. Taste is a bit nutty, toasty, with a quick, clean finish that’s just a bit dry, A bit of brown sugar, but not much. Just a bit thin on flavor. Mouthfeel is light, light but fizzy carbonation, tiny bit watery.

Peachy orange color with a thin greyish head that settles to a ring. Aroma is slight caramel, maple syrup, pecan nuts, sweet malt. Taste is light on everything but some caramel, roasted nuts, and maple syrup.
