Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Pours with a decent sized, off-white head. Clear light brown body. Head diminishes but leeaves some light lacicng. Aroma of pecans and other nuts with some light cereal. Extremeely watery taste with some nuts...Could have been a lot better. Kind of a mix of astringent malts. Fizzy and dry.

Beer tasted at mcbackus tasting. Pours clear copper with tan head. The aroma is rich yummy nuttiness with medium roasted malts in the background. Very nutty aroma. The taste has the same rich nuttiness as noted in the nose to go along with medium roasted malts and finishing with a drying malt and nutty astringency. Tasty brew that seduces with the nose.

Bottle from World Market. Gorgeous pour of an amber body and one-inch of off-white head. The nose is sweet with roasted malts and baked bread. Flavors are malty and slightly nutty (but almost unnoticably so); notes of caramel and dried toast come through as well. Carbonation is low and the body is surprisingly thin and watery. This is an okay beer and an interesting brewing concept, but turns out to be disappointing in flavor and body.

This is a slightly hazy amber beer that has what I would consider acceptable , but certainly nothing special. I did find a bit of a nut flavoring ,although not necessarily pecan.

Bottle... Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08...Clear amber ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, white head. Decent, swirling, hurricane-like retention. Faint aroma of pecans. Light to medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Well-balanced, but thin. A little nutty with only a rumor of residual sweetness. Crisp, fairly clean, watery and refreshing.

DTM got this cursed brew from SoCal. Four words: one sip drain pour. I love pecans. I love pecan pie. I love them in cookies -- baked, on a lake, by a rake, when I wake... but not in this brew.
