| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 21, 2008 I didn’t really get much of the pecans in the aroma or flavor. It’s not bad but not what it’s advertised to be. Mostly malt throughout. daknole (2984), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Tasting at mcbackus 10/19. Abita makes beers with good names, but most of them do not live up to what they could be. This one is a gold beer with some grains and nuts on the nose. Flavor is malt and plain. Not worth it. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Bottle thanks Phiddle. Pours a clear dark golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is mostly malty witha nutty nose. Flavor is a bunch of malt, caramel and almost no hop flavor. This was a waste of a bottle GodOfThunder (877), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Thanks to whomever brought this to Backus’s Backdoor Bash. I was expecting more from this beer, like a sweet pecan pie. What I got was almost flavorless. There were some caramel and nutty notes, but they were very light. Abita could have done a much better job and kicked this one up a notch. cbkschubert (2004), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 18, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors (I think) - Pours a clear copper color with a one finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Light, soft carbonation. Aroma is a lightly sweetened, toasted caramel malt. The flavor actually has a light pecan flavor to it. Medium body. A decent beer. nathan30533 (154), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Very rich flavor, almost that of a nut brown. Good looking amber ale. Overall smooth but does have a bit of a bite. Though I have been very impressed with Abita in the past this one is just an average amber full of rich nutty flavor. kpresley77 (134), Jackson, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Bottle pours hazy amber with thin quick diminishing off white head. Aroma is nutty sweet malt. First taste is sweet but very well balanced. The nuts come through in the finish but very mild. Like an amber nut ale or really light brown ale. Not true to the style but I really like this one. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2008 Poured a pretty clear coppery amber with a thin white head. It seems to have pretty low carbonation. It smells wonderful--very nutty and a little fruity. It feels medium-bodied and it’s flavor is just as wonderful at the smell! You can really taste the pecan and it finishes very smoothly. This brew really offers an enjoyable experience--I’ll definitely buy this one again and I highly recommend other to try it.
