| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 8, 2007 In all reality, the aroma is of standard amber ale with only the slightest nuttiness. Pours amber, head disappears. Flavor is caramel malts with some sweetness and some nutty and toasty notes. There isnt alot going on here. This bores me. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA

Fortunately, this beer has only a mildly nutty character in the finish, but doesn’t really taste like pecans per se. Unfortunately, the base is a generic amber ale delivering core flavors of toasty malts and very mild hops, the latter contributing a very slight bitterness. There’s no evolution in the flavor -- it’s consistent from attack to finish. Dry, toasty nuttiness is more evident in the nose, dominating whatever other aromas might be present. Medium in body and carbonation, and it shows a dry and lightly astringent finish that hints at pecans. Deep amber in color with a faint haze, and capped by a small, light-tan head that quickly recedes to an incomplete, filmy layer. So aside from the mild nuttiness, this is a pretty uninteresting beer. Fairly nice nutty aroma, soft munich maltiness and a soft sweet breadiness. There is the faintest hint of spicy european hops in the background. Excellent balance with a very fresh malty character. A slightly nutty finish, but nothing that screams "pecan" to me. Still, a fresh, balanced, and very well-made Oktoberfest type beer. Much better than I was expecting. drazil91 (40), Panama City, Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2007 The bouquet is roasted barley malt and steak well done, nicely combined. Hazy orange color, thin head, no lacing. Dry taste of lightly roasted malts. Somewhat biting mouthfeel that yields to a smooth unmistakable pecan finish. There are also fairly nice yet subdued hops in the background. The taste is only fair, but it is otherwise well done and unique. I wouldn’t drink it all the time, so it makes for a nice seasonal. Pours dark amber with a slight haze and a moderate beige head. Aroma of rich, slightly caramel malts, toasted nuts and light floral notes. Flavor also features a nice maltiness, with the pecans adding a toasty, nutty character - no surprise. Medium body and tingly carbonation. Not bad. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
