Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

12oz bottle. Orange with a lasting head. Sweet, nutty aroma. Light caramel and some pecan nuttiness with a watery finish. Thin body. The pecan adds a nice element, but this beer is just to thin and empty otherwise.

Location: Purchased at a Grocery in NYC, Fall ’08

Overall Impression: Nice solid beer, pecan flavor is pretty faint, and not much else going on with it other then your standard ale tastes.

Bottle: Poured a copper amber color with a medium off white cream head. Aroma is light with pecan nuts. Taste is nutty with the pecan, a bit watery.

Good pop of fizz when uncapping. Very large slightly tan head. Fairly firm with lots of bubbles. Obviously filtered. Nice amber color. Nutty aroma. Weak body, almost to the point of being water. Slight nut flavor, but very weak there too. Light bitterness in aftertaste. Tried this one because it sounded interesting. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to the interest. I can’t figure how they suggest this one would stand up to any red meats. Even fish might be giving it a go for its money.

Thanks to Skyview. Copper red pour with a fluffy two finger dirty white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and light fruit. Taste is less distinctive than the aroma. If you really look for the pecan you can find it in the flavor but you have to look for it.

Pours clear red with a frothy off-white head. Not much on the nose except for a slight earthiness, nor is there much for taste. Pecan is hardly noticeable. Overall it is thin.

On tap at a local restaurant in New Orleans. Pours a generally clear amber color with a one finger white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of nuts, spice, caramel and honey. Flavor is much of the same with some hints of toffee and smoke. Generally light body with a pleasing malty finish.
