Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

some caramel in the nose, alongwith light nut and ever so faint honey bbq smoke .. good lacing ... has a refrshing mouth it it, but not at all complex... just a good summer sipper, thats it .. points on subtlety ..

Reviewed 2/11/2009 (bottle): Pours a good sized head, white but very quickly diminishing. Amber orange colored fizzy body. Very fizzy soda smelling aroma. Syrupy maltiness along with some nuttiness, maybe pecans too. Very grainy aroma. Grainy malty pecan taste. Very carbonated. A little dusty. Has that unique Abita taste to it, maybe it’s the water. I like the pecan, but not the Abita taste.

Pours a dark orange/brown, thick white head with resilient lacing. Overwhelming flavor of rusty iron. Some milk chocolate with bitter nut finish. A little disappointing the second time around, I remembered it being better.

Sampled at Backus’ Backyard Bash. 12 oz bottle. Clear caramel pour with a small tan head. Lightly nutty pecan and mildly sweet caramel. Nice, but far too light.

12oz bottle 2/1/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a slightly hazy ornage body with a nice small off white head. Aroma of pecan, caramel, malt, and some roastiness. Taste starts out with pecan, malt, and caramel which lasts throughout the taste and it throws in some sweetness. This medium bodied brew is quite tasty and fairly well balanced.

Amber color with a nice head but it goes quickly. Malty and spiced it feels like it is trying to do something but really ends up not coming up with much at all in the taste area. Very clear.

Abita is hit or miss for me so I only grabbed a single sample of this delightful beer. Well made and very enjoyable this is a great beer to start the evening off with. Clear reddish orange color, lasting off-white head and a couple thick bands of lacing. Creamy malt aroma intertwined with a light pecan nuttiness. Soothing and inviting the pecan scent is wonderfully done. Medium to light in the mouth feel department that leads to a thin finish. Drinkable, but needs a more rounded malt presence. Light malt flavors of biscuits, toffee, and faint coffee. The pecans are riding in the back seat next to other common nut flavors. A hint of smoked malt seems to creep in there somewhere. Flavors could be more robust, I could see this being a "heavier" beer and really becoming exceptional, but it’s calm and enjoyable as is.

Bottle with Butters. Pours an off-white head with an amber body. Smells of caramel and malt with a faint wisp of barnyard deep in the sinuses. Tastes caramel and bready. Reminds me of pecan pie without the overwhelminig sweetness or pecans. Lacking in the pecan flavor for what I was expecting.
