Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

From 12 oz bottle, pours a golden brown in color, mostly transparent, and has a diminishing off-white to beige head. I don’t really detect any nuts or pecan in the aroma, only some caramel and roasted maltiness. The flavour was light, sweet, somewhat toasty maltiness along with a mild earthy bitterness balancing it out. It’s okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to repeat it.

Refrigerated pecan pie with buttery flakey crust nose and hints of caramel. Cloudy burnt orange color, small soapy head. Light caramel and cotton candy sweetness, bitterness is steady and makes for a great balance. Big carbonation, light to medium body, nutty sweet finish with some spice hop notes. This was one of those beers I expected to not like and was pleasantly surprised, pecan notes enhance every step of this beer…worth trying.

12oz - Dark orange pour with light tan head. Mild oil of nuts on nose, a woody aroma. Major nut flavors on palate. Powerfully delicious.

Oh boy this came close to working... but fell short no doubt. The beer pours a deep orange with a small head. There isn’t a lot of complexity in the aroma or the flavor but at lest the aroma with it’s graininess and nuttiness has nothing to complain about per sey. The flavor however shows a bit of corniness, some graininess and some true astringency that blocks out good flavors like toasty nuts and some roastiness. eh.

12oz bottle poured into an English pint glass. APHA pours hazy mahogany with a thick head that leaves extraordinarily thick lacing. The aroma is mostly malt but it has a touch of earthiness as well. In the spirit of full disclosure, amber ales are one of my least favorite types. The body is oily and medium light in fullness. The flavors are very autumn-esqu with the promised pecans in attendance. As usual with the style, malt is the word of the day.

Very nice tasting ale but I really cannot taste any pecans at all. It’s a slight brown color and poured with a nice head, but the head disappated very quickly. I assuming that this is a seasonal ale and it’s really not half bad.

Copper in color with a nice white head... Aroma of sticky sweet caramel malt, expecting hoppiness that is non existant... Initial hit of the same caramel that mellows into a nice slightly malty nutty amber ale that thins at the end... A touch hoppy at the very end... You can not call a beer a harvest ale if it has no discernable hoppiness at the front...

pours a very clear golden honey color with a medium sized light tan head. aroma is nutty...reminds me of acorns...also some maple syrup and has a slight malty sweetness of caramel with a touch of earthy hops. flavor has very little of what the aroma promises...slight caramel and nuttiness...almost like a budweiser with caramel malt added. mouthfeel is very watery and finish is nearly non existent.
