Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It's wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it's great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Received a single 12-oz bottle from oetiii in Antigo, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a thin film and white ring. Aroma of light multi-grain bread dough, some citrus hops, and some roasted nuts. Taste is light to medium bodied, plenty of carbonation, with flavors of light multi-grain malt, some roasted nuts, and a little citrus bitterness. Finish is slightly watery with a multi-grain malt aftertaste. I’ve had some intense pecan nutty flavor beers before (ie: Bertrams Hazelnut Ale), Abita’s Pecan Harvest is missing the pecan flavor.

Bottle from Hi-Time in SoCal. Poured and orange/copper color. The smell of pecan was overpowering. The taste of pecan was also overpowering. Pecans in beer = not a good idea. Didn’t even finish it all.

Pours clear copper; a quarter inch of beige suds leave pretty lace rings. Smells ever-so-faintly of brown sugar, peanuts, and cheez wiz. The flavor… wait, I’m still trying to taste it… nope, not yet… okay, a glass of water with an unwrapped Snickers bar at the other end of the room. The light palate is actually kind of chewy, but has nearly zero carbonation. This is totally lame, not worth the ink to print the label.

bottle thanks to my girlfriend. she picked it up at world market in denton, tx. poured a clear amber with an off white head. aroma of malt and and yes you guessed it pecan, was it due to the name? flavor of sweet malt and a woody flavor. a barley noticeable bitter. medium body with high carbonation. a crisp refreshing change.

12 oz bottle all around ATL. Pours an amber-copper with a finger or less of frothy white crown that has minimal retention and spotty lacing. Aroma is full of sweet caramel malt and oily nuts. You can definitely pick out the pecan odour - it’s not like a pecan pie but more like you ground up a whole bunch of raw pecans in a mortar and pestle. Not wholly desirable but the nut flavour is prominent in the beer. It does not overpower the malt backbone in the beer, though you can also sense the mild hop bitterness in the middle of the palate during tasting due to the moderate carbonation. The finish is smooth and not very dry, and the mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with a little bit of oiliness to it. Some bottles I have tasted have a metallic taste, others don’t. Overall a decent beer but not something I would gravitate towards in the cooler.

Dark amber appearance with a medium size tan head and good lacing. Long, deep sniffs finally pulled some nuttiness out of the aroma, but mostly it was caramel malts. Pecans were a little more evident in the taste. Some earthiness, still malt driven; hops were low keyed and non-descript. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a short lived finish. Nice flavor overall, just wished they were a little more generous with the pecans.
