Commercial Description:
Abita Red Ale is a traditional red ale. It is brewed with British pale and crystal malts, Liberty hops and an ale yeast imported from Ireland. This ale has a rich ruby color, lacy collar, pronounced caramel flavor and is a tad "hoppier" than our other brews. Available March thru June.

Gusher alert when I took the cap off this one. Malty caramel aroma rather mild. Golden body with big off white head. My hops were gone from this bottle just some sweet malt.

bottle from tops with no bb date consumed 8/2/2009. crystal clear brilliant copper colored pour capped by a two inch pale khaki hued head which displays incredible retention somehow. it smells of light caramel, malt and earthy spicy hops... cinnamon pops out. the flavor is the same... meh along with some bubblegum, citrus and a slightly tart finish. it is light to medium bodied with a sharp texture from prickly carbonation. 5/3/5/3/12/2.8

Reviewed 7/25/2009 (bottle dated ??): Pours a very clear, red rusty color body, with a big rocky whitish color head, somewhat lasting. Malty, hoppy aroma, sweet and citrusy. Subtle, and enticing. Watery taste, some nutty aftertaste. Some nuttiness in the taste. Sweet tasting.

Medium sized offwhite head, fair retention and lacing. Lightly cloudy amber hue. Malty, grainy nose, good aromatics.Medium body. Medium sweet malts, caramel, light roast and a touch of hop spiceyness. Fairly dry and malty finish.

Another winner from Abita Brewing. This seasonal brew has a creamy head and a slightly bitter taste. Very enjoyable with fried seafood. Get it on draft.

Orange color pour. Hops are on the nose. Taste is of hops but faint. A nice red but indistinguishable from the masses.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a one finger creamy beige head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is malt and earth. The taste is caramel, earthy hops and rye bread. Medium mouthfeel. Not that bad
