Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they're picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a small, tight, cotton white head. Smell: Strawberries!! Taste: Strong, sweet strawberry flavor, like you’d get from a kid’s sugary sweet breakfast cereal with some strawberry yogurt stirred in. No bitterness or real hop character. Finishes same. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: If you dig lagers and sweet strawberries, then you could definitely go for this. For me, it was a bit too sweet.

Bottle. Lovely powdery strawberry aroma fills the room, reminds of certain brands of strawberry ice cream. Cloudy light yellow-golden with medium carbonation and a fluffy, creamy white head. Watery body with light crispiness and thin strawberry sweetness. I swear I’ve had mixed-fruit gelato like this. The underlying lager is weak; otherwise, this might compete for a 3.0. Decent light summer fare.

Hesitant to buy a single, I’m now kicking myself for not getting the entire sixer. This is a surprisingly wonderful fruit beer. Looks like a pale lager with a golden yellow body and fluffy white cap. Delectable aroma of candied strawberries, very subdued and intriguing. Crisp yet soft on the palate, it’s a delicate mouth feel with a sweet, fruity punch. The flavor really stands out with a nice pale malt backbone and complimenting fresh strawberries. The fruit really accents this lager and tastes genuine. Thumbs up to Abita for this delicious treat.

This contained far too much strawberry flavor. Taste reminded me of the strawberry daiquiris synonymous for the area where this is brewed. Too sweet and off target.

Thanks to deepsouth for this one Bottle poured into my pint class produced a finger worth of white head that turns to a thick lace. This sits on top of a hazy pale light gold body Aromas of strawberries lots of them fill your nose Flavors of strawberries and bread wow this stuff is strange but in a good way interesting. Light and crisp mouthfeel so it makes for a good summer treat An interesting beer glad I tried it. Don’t think I could drink too many of these but It would be fun to have every once in a while. The strawberry flavor is great and refreshing so it is a great summer brew

Bottle. Slightly hazed gold. Small white head. Nose is strawberries, maybe some strawberry jam, grains, and light grass. Taste is berry and grains, not unlike Special K with strawberries cereal. Soft grass and biscuit as well. Body is light but very bubbly. Lots of belching with this one. Some light bitterness at times as well. Finish is more grains, biscuit, strawberries and soft grass. Not bad at all. Rather refreshing!
