joss (3117), Garching b. München, Germany Oct 12, 2006 Bottle. Nice chestnut, low creamy head. Very nice roasted and earthy, orangepeel aroma. Nutty malt, a bit berries, bitter edge, mellow sparkly body. Milk chocolate aftertaste.
Light to medium body.
nbutler11 (132), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 27, 2008 Pours a watery black from the bottle with an almost fizzy tan head. Yeast and faint molasses on the nose with flavors of dark cocoa, toasted malts, and copper in the taste. Appears to be a stout, but tastes very much like an unbalanced brown. Biddle_Brau (135), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Aug 26, 2008 Dark with ruby highlights and thin white head hardly a hint of aroma. Slight burnt roastiness/coffee thin palate (seems typical of the Abita’s I’ve had). Not sure if this wants to be a stout or dark lager with the roasiness but it’s not what I’d expect from a brown, either. kseecs16 (533), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a big foamy tan head. Aroma was rich malt, nutty with notes of chocolate and caramel. Flavor is dry nutty roasted malts with a hint of sweetness. Creamy feel with a medium body. Pershing (68), Garland, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2008 Dark brown almost black with a light brown head. Light malt aroma and very thin and dry on the the palate. Seems more like a dark lager than a brown ale. Dandman629 (10), Ashburn, Virginia, USA Aug 22, 2008 I like a few Abita beers (Purple Haze, Fall Fest, Restoration Ale) But I was not too impressed with the Turbodog. There was no definitive smell to the beer. The color and appearance looked good but that taste just didnt back it up. It has the hints of chocolate and a little coffee to it. Overall I was not too impressed with this beer.
