Bockyhorsey (2056), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 8, 2005 Roasted chocolate malt aroma. Brown body with tan head that disiapated quickly. Some lacing on the glass. Flavor has a hint of chocolate but seemed a bit watered down tha the roasted flavor would be present instead. Good on the palate with little aftertaste. Decent but not great.
scrizzz (523), kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 31, 2008 Malt forward aroma with some off-putting aromas, like spilled stale beer. Dark and thick with a thick dense creamy sandy head. Thinner than expected with some almond and caramel in the malt, but metallic notes too. Meh. Perm (142), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Oct 30, 2008 I do love me some Turbodog, and I have for quite a few years. Only just now getting around to reviewing it.

And, only recently have I discovered a secret: drink it close to room (or at least cellar) temperature -- it comes alive!
<br /><br />
Bottle, poured into an oversize wine goblet. <br /><br />
Appearance: Dark, brooding, yet inviting. Crassly put, like Coca-Cola. More elegantly, like a russet madeira.
<br /><br />
Aroma: Those dry hops are nice! On the nose, a lot of resin, molasses, pipe tobacco, leather, and wet grass. Shades of a weak barleywine, almost.
<br /><br />
Taste: Not as poweful as the nose, but not too far behind. Toasty malt, chocolate, coffee notes, molasses, and an American hop finish.
<br /><br />
Palate: A bit of a fizzy zing, but quite a bit of oil as well.
<br /><br />
Overall: If they were to ever make a souped-up version of this ale and call it an Old Ale or a Barleywine, I’d be over the moon. Turbodog is great, though. Surprisingly easy-drinking for its heaviness and its strength. Dynamite with a range of foods, too, everything from oven-roasted eggplant to white chocolate challah bread pudding. ndfreak77 (76), USA Oct 28, 2008 Poured from a bottle. Dark Brown with a large creamy head. Flavor is a nice mixture of sweet chocalate and bitter hops. Pretty good. Tessic (409), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Oct 26, 2008 This ale poured a very deep brown colour with a nice creamy, tan coloured head. Not much in the scent dept. Scents include brown sugar, caramel and an earthy note. First taste was smooth with flavours of cramel and dark malt. Finish was very malty and the palate very slightly bitter with a small amount of hopp flavour. Not bad. Caleb1035 (59), , North Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2008 Draft at Cajun Yard Dogs. Not a bad beer at all. Dark, with hints of chocolate and a nice palate. Reminds me of a stout.
