Poured deep clear ruby-brown with a large light brown foamy-creamy lasting head. Aroma of figs, caramel roast malt, straw - very dry. Taste is very light - hints of grain, caramel, raisins - again, very dry, with a dry, flat, thin mouthfeel. Not bad - well made - but needs tons more body, and any carbonation at all would help - not lots, but some.

The burnt malt seems to overpower everything else. A bit thin on the palate. Yeast and faint molasses on the nose with flavors of dark cocoa, toasted malts, and copper in the taste. Appears to be a stout, but tastes very much like an unbalanced brown. Slight burnt roastiness/coffee thin palate (seems typical of the Abita’s I’ve had). Not sure if this wants to be a stout or dark lager with the roasiness but it’s not what I’d expect from a brown, either.
