Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, his bottle. Poured deep clear ruby-brown with a large light brown foamy-creamy lasting head. Aroma of figs, caramel roast malt, straw - very dry. Taste is very light - hints of grain, caramel, raisins - again, very dry, with a dry, flat, thin mouthfeel. Not bad - well made - but needs tons more body, and any carbonation at all would help - not lots, but some.

Sep 4, 2008 Dark brown pour with a thick foamy tan head. Aroma of burnt malt, molasses and funky yeast. Flavor wasn’t nearly as interesting. The burnt malt seems to overpower everything else. A bit thin on the palate. Not too impressive.

Aug 27, 2008 Pours a watery black from the bottle with an almost fizzy tan head. Yeast and faint molasses on the nose with flavors of dark cocoa, toasted malts, and copper in the taste. Appears to be a stout, but tastes very much like an unbalanced brown.

Aug 26, 2008 Dark with ruby highlights and thin white head hardly a hint of aroma. Slight burnt roastiness/coffee thin palate (seems typical of the Abita’s I’ve had). Not sure if this wants to be a stout or dark lager with the roasiness but it’s not what I’d expect from a brown, either.
