Commercial Description:
Abita Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of British pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate-toffee like flavor.

12 oz bottle and draught all over ATL. Pours a deep dark semi-opaque ebony brown with moderate tannish crow that has semi-moderate retention. Aroma is not very robust for a robust-looking beer. It is reminiscent of roasted and chocolate malt, with some nuttiness, but always with a small hint of oxidation. Flavour is also thin with nuts, chocolate malt, roasted malt, and a little bit of hop bitterness in the middle of the taste that’s brought out by the spritely carbonation, but finishes a little bitter with some grassy aromas. The body is also surprisingly thin. I didn’t find this beer to be very palatable or drinkable to my liking. I see how it could be drinkable to many but I need something that’s a little more aggressive or more strongly balanced with heartier malts.

On tap. Really cool reddish brown body. Roasty and sweet toffee flavor. Nice chocolate. Carbonation is good. Could drink this all night.

Dark amber brown pour with thick tan head. Malty aroma; tastes of roasted malt and caramel with lingering nutty chocolate finish. Good carbonation but body is a little thin. Not bad.
