| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Bottle (in NZ). Very easy drinking - I’m surprised it is 6.1%. The malt is pretty smooth, with a light chocolate flavour, but a touch grainy. Could drink a lot of these, without really hooked. Finhead (82), Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 A very dark brown ale with off-white head. The aroma is very sweet with chocolate and toffee. The taste is also very sweet, with the malts dominating the flavor. It begins lively, but has a short finish with no aftertaste. zdk (235), New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 1, 2009 bottle: a good, but not especially memorable, brown ale. Pours surprisingly dark with fluffy head. Taste is chocolate and caramel with hints of nut and berries. Needs more hops in the finish, but still good. larryLSB (162), La Selva Beach, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Poured from 12 oz., dark brown with medium tan head. Nose of chocolate and malts, with just a hint of hops. Flavor was on the sweet side, seemed a bit thin, with above average carbonation. Not a bad brown. Light wet dog and chocolate malt in the aroma. Sweet with a light roast, some toffee, and a thin texture. Low bitterness, just enough for balance, and a touch of spicy hop flavor. Decent quaffer with a lackluster aroma. Rerate: Cleaner aroma and a little more flavor definition. Worth a point bump. halfonit (467), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2009 This particular type of beer is black with a thick caramel head. Aroma is a little complex but what I come up with is sweeter malts, berries, yeast, and a little earth. Taste is a little similar. Flavors include malts, citrus, apricot, and some raisin. Aftertaste is sweet yet tart. Not too bad. dmac (1487), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2009 12 oz bottle from Jonathan Ron. Poured a nice deep dark brown with an average sized slightly foamy beige head. Aroma is very nutty and grainy with notes of slight honey, brown bread, stale honey and some sort of odd fruits. The body is thinner with average carbonation and watery bubbly feel overall. Flavors of cheap chocolate, grains, nutts, seltzer and slight raisin. Ah......drinkable but not a head turner by any means.
