LiebeBier (745), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Mar 30, 2003 Very dark brown color. Malty and chocolate nose. I thought it tasted a bit like a watered down porter. Had a distintive coffee finish. Overall - decent.
marksahara (73), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2008 12 oz bottle and draught all over ATL. Pours a deep dark semi-opaque ebony brown with moderate tannish crow that has semi-moderate retention. Aroma is not very robust for a robust-looking beer. It is reminiscent of roasted and chocolate malt, with some nuttiness, but always with a small hint of oxidation. Flavour is also thin with nuts, chocolate malt, roasted malt, and a little bit of hop bitterness in the middle of the taste that’s brought out by the spritely carbonation, but finishes a little bitter with some grassy aromas. The body is also surprisingly thin. I didn’t find this beer to be very palatable or drinkable to my liking. I see how it could be drinkable to many but I need something that’s a little more aggressive or more strongly balanced with heartier malts. bconley (40), Fern Park, Florida, USA Sep 27, 2008 On tap. Really cool reddish brown body. Roasty and sweet toffee flavor. Nice chocolate. Carbonation is good. Could drink this all night. Trev (540), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Sep 22, 2008 pours a dark brownish amber with a medium tight tan head.

Very drinkable. apshah99 (92), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 21, 2008 Dark amber brown pour with thick tan head. Malty aroma; tastes of roasted malt and caramel with lingering nutty chocolate finish.
