austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Nov 1, 2002 Technically, if this were really pear juice it wouldn’t be cider (fermented apples) it’d be perry (fermented pears), but let’s not quibble over semantics when we’re drinking something as sweet and tasty as this. Turns out, it’s apple juice with pear "essence" - huh? Extremely juice-like, like K Cider and lacking in any sort of crispness, which is desirable in a quality cider. Otherwise, it’s just sweetened juice -- like Ace.
astrofrk (95), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 30, 2008 Almost clear. No head. Aroma: Pear, sweet. Flavor: Pear, sweet, tart. Sweet finish. Note that pears are not mentioned in the ingredients at all
MesandSim (4623), Highgate, Greater London, England Nov 21, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at the Crosse Keys ’Sporks.
Looks like wee. Full on nasty sweet pear. Harsh as hell and undrinkable. Bloody hell! lithy (385), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 18, 2008 Pale clear yellow. Sweet pear jolly rancher sweet aroma. Taste is biting and very tart, pears and sweetness. hughie (2415), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Nov 2, 2008 Bottle at Secklow Hundred, Milton Keynes, in Wetherspoons BF ’08. Very pale gold. Last time I saw something as pale as this was when a free bottle of Lambrini arrived with my Chinese takeaway meal. Aroma is iceberg lettuce going a bit brown round the edges but the middle is still OK. Also Barrett’s Sherbet Fountain and nail varnish. Taste is sweet with some sourness and something else, rather like unripe grapes. Could that be the ’pear essence’? Different, complex and slightly less good than Lambrini.
