| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 1, 2008 This beer has a unique quality of being aggressive, but still being mellow at the same time. Aroma is yeasty with a sweet honey tone, as is the flavor. Malt dominant, there is just enough hop bitterness to keep the sweetness from getting to be too much. Nice black pepper notes show up in the latter part of the swallow. Carbonation is spritzy. An amazing looking beer, the head on this thing rose a full inch above the rim of my Belgian goblet, and stayed there for a good five minutes. Pours cloudy maize with a lot of floating yeast chunks. The alcohol is present but not intrusive. lithy (1750), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Updated: Oct 2, 2008bb 07/06 Carbonated fizzy copper orange with nice retention of an off white finger of sticky clingy head. Few large floaties slipped in and dance among the carbonation. Strong spicy nose, hints of hops and alcohol. Yeasty and bready. Visible carbonation makes a smooth sipper but doesn’t prickly the tongue. Biscuit malts and a nice yeasty character lingers while this mellow Belgian spiciness finishes with a small alcohol bite and typical mustiness. cbeers21 (578), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Extra foamy and bubbling out when cap is popped. Stupidly huge head, lasting through. LIght bready notes to smell, light fruits, green apples, apricots, and a distant clovey spiceyness. Cloved spiced body with a peppery twang, and a smoothed out palate. There are touches of souring notes that are there, but for some reason dont come out. I liked the flavor, but it seemed liked it fell a little flat. Despite being enjoyable, this brew seemed to have the stuff to be poised for a breakthrough to the next level of greatness, but didn’t excell in any area, too bad. That said, still a worthy brew, and worth a revisit for sure. tlind2 (604), Helsinki, Finland
