SeanMacGC (17), Dublin, Ireland Jul 18, 2008 Bottle, 75 cl. A sumptous head, and a sumptuous aroma and mouthfeel. Faint lacing from the head, and aroma of round hops and yeast, with reassuring palate impact. Great beer. davidpl (390), Santiago, Chile Jul 13, 2008 Updated: Jul 16, 2008Appearance: reddish brown color. Big head of beige color, rocky and lasting.
Aroma: sweet malty smells, but mainly the fruity notes with reminiscences of plums and cherries. The presences of the yeast inject cookies and banana reminiscences that with the semi-citric fruits smells remember me a tart. Some cherries liquor.
Flavor: sweet caramel malts start, not sickly, with the progress of ripe and semi-citric fruits reminiscences like plums and raisins. The yeast hints banana and earthy touches. Like in the aroma, I remember a juicy and fruity tart. Dark sugar, toffee and truffles hints.
Palate: medium body, sparkling in the tongue with medium to high carbonation.
Remark: some complex, balanced and interesting beer. Advisable. Caleb1035 (5), , North Carolina, USA does not count Jul 7, 2008 Dark color with nice head that lingers. Taste is excellent without a a trace of the alcohol flavor noticeable in other trappist beers. Great beer MuttyD (39), Cambridge, USA Jul 6, 2008 Foamy cream colored head. Very malty and tastes of brown sugar, raisins, and figs. Excellent creamy feeling on the palate.
acrdz (4131), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2008 Dark plum/tobacco brown colored body with an off-white/greyish head, decent lacing. Peppery, very effervescent and active carbonation on the palate, somewhat sharp with a light bite of alcohol. Dusty, minerally yeast, some toast and toffee and light notes of sweetened pipe tobacco. Semi-sweet overall, some dark candy sugar and brown sugar notes, light toast and toffee in the finish, but it does come across as somewhat transparent and pale at times, not very deep or complex, but certainly good for what it is.
