The head is monstrous. It is sooo large and fluffy kind of like whipped cream in appearance. It’s like a large feather pillow as it comes to rest above the rim of my Affligem Chalice and leaves behind thick lacing. This baby reminds me of a root beer float. The head absolutely refuses to die. Magnificent.
S: Very subtle smells here. What I do smell is rising bread dough with a hint of sweetness and spice. It has the aroma of a wonderful sweet bread in the making.
T: This one starts of with a blast of malt; I taste slightly bitter nuts, and dark fruits. It finishes with some sweetness and hints of chocolate. Very nice.
M: Very Smooth and even Creamier. A full bodied and filling beer. beernbourbon (317), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Bottle. Pour is clear brown with a huge rocky beige head. Aroma is light malt, sourdough bread, clove, black pepper, light hop, and light hay. Flavor is caramel malt up front with a nice spicy hop kick. Also some black pepper, a faint sourdough flavor, light spice, and a crisp finish with a small alcohol kick. It’s a little funky and a little spicy. This may not make sense to anyone but me, but this tastes like an old recipe. By that I mean; I bet this beer has tasted like this for decades. Nice beer for a cold sunday of football watching. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with huge, lasting tan head. Rich caramel malts in the aroma. Flavor is a little sweet and a little bitter, with a strong alcohol finish, which I guess makes sense given the alcohol content. Not bad, but not really my style. AKSalmon (10), Germany

In mouth the body is structured, the full taste is sweetish, for then it will end to a light bitterish. Cleaning up and balanced. Good.
