| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Thin brown pour with a spritzy white head and lots of thick gobs of floaties from the bottle. I tried to keep most of it out but there was quite a bit and some made it through. Aroma is of berries, and some spices, possibly cinnamon. Flavor is less exotic than the nose. There’s a metallic hint early on that lasts most of the way through as well as some caramel and yeast flavors. The alcohol is very well hidden. I’m not sure about this one. I was expecting more. I think the Trappist name does more for the rating of this beer than its characters. JoeNovice (11), USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2007 The beer produced a THICK head that lasted. The aroma is nice but not potent. Color is deep golden brown. Flavor is top notch and hides the alcohol well. Very enjoyable. HermanW (630), Coevorden, Netherlands

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2007 Aroma of malt, prunes, fruit and a bit of alcohol. The head is huge, and thick - I poured it very carefully down my glass, but still there was too much to be in the glass! It’s thick as cream! The colour of the beer is dark red. The flavor is fruity, with tones of caramel, malt and a tint of alcohol. FatPhil (3483), Espoo, Finland

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2007 I had this in the cellar and tried to forget about it for a year. Mission accomplished! Pours dark brown with an uber-rocky brown head. Gorgeous. Mildly sweet and malty beer with some chocolate notes, brown sugar, dark fruits. Lightly bitter. Finish rolls into a caramelized aftertaste that lasts and lasts. Really damn enjoyable. nuplastikk (1217), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Oct 14, 2007 11.2 oz bottle from Belgium. Pours a deep, complex, murky dark brown with a hint of amber shining through. Huge head...though the beer itself is not so effervescent. Creamy and yeasty, an awesome brown ale.
