Aroma of caramel and sweet malt.Fruit but not as much as in the Achel 8 blond. The body is medium to full with a certain roundness to it. Can’t describe it better, sorry. A very good Belgian brown. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 17, 2007 Bottle from Kingdom Liquors Brandon, Fl. Pours a clear amber with a very large light tan head that is coming out of the glass and leaves great lacing and is comparable to a Chouffe Houblon pour. Aroma of sweet malt, sweet caramel, aromatic malt, and light notes of dark fruit and yeast spice. Taste is very fresh sweet malt with wonderfull notes of caramel, yeast spice, and dark fruit. Medium mouthfeel with a good amount of carbonation that finishes dry. An under rated wonderfull Trappist brew. mkofron (155), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 16, 2007 Pours deep red, fruity aroma and flavors. Another excellent trappist ale. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2007 Curiously thin pour, the hue of flattened root beer with head to match. Nutmeg and strawberry aromas lead. Bourbon soaked toffee cake and espresso miel open up with warmth. Slick fruity candies, loud and annoying, are overpowering even while slightly chilled. Patience yields the rich harvest. Cocoa and pepper laced California red, cedar woods and a wisp of light pipe smoke. Soured honey and peat survive swallowing. Palate is slightly mineral and sandy, with fleeting champagne suggestions. A bastard cousin of the great Belgian showstoppers, yet a fine performer in its right. Hamirubi (40), Belgium

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2007 At BIer Circus-bottle. Darkish brown color with nice head. Sweetish, roasted malty taste with medium body. Very similar to Rochefort but not quite there. Goes down very easy though.. acearl (218), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 1, 2007 Intererting pour in a trappist glass, murky auburn hue, creamy top with frothy side and bottom tan long lasting head, dried banana and apricot smell, lively carbonation, watery to oily texture, all in all pretty light, sour milk taste sticks to the roof of your mouth otherwise short duration and not much else to it, on the bottom of the belgian trappists I have tried (which I have tried all except Westvleteren from what I can remember) and only slightly better than Koningshoeven. Body is dark brown with some amber. Quite easy to drink, nice warmth but fast dwindling aftertaste. Hints of dried fruit but nothing substantional.
