Bottle shared by Chuck. Slightly hazy brown-red body, foamy tan head. Smooth round caramel sweetness with gently toasted bread on top. The flavor retains that smooth, sweet malt profile but now with a lightly tangy lime hopping. Quality stuff for sure.

Sampler, Trappist evening hosted by Philippe Wouters at L’autre œil, savoured on site on January 17 2007; eye: burnt orange, beige head that is akin to ice cream, hazy, no effervescence, lacing; nose: malt, grapefruit, faint odours due to the thickness of the head; mouth: velvety, syrupy, grapefruit, caramelized malt, edgy bitterness, a bit of Cointreau, finale with a nice and edgy bitterness, hint of caramel, medium body, average carbonation, quite sweet, slightly bitter, satin-like, full body; overall: really liked FRANÇAIS Échantillon, soirée trappiste animée par Philippe Wouters à L’autre œil, savourée sur place le 17 janvier 2007; oeil : orange brûlée, mousse beige qui ressemble à de la crème glacée, voilée, pas d’effervescence, dentelle; nez : malt, pamplemousse, odeurs faibles dûe à l’épaisse mousse blanche; bouche : veloutée, sirupeuse, pamplemousse, malt caramélisé, amertume tranchante, une petit peu de Cointreau, finale avec une tranchante et belle pointe d’amertume, grosse pointe de caramel, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, assez sucrée, très légèrement amère, satinée, corsée; en résumé : adorée

Bottle sampled at "Better Know a Style: Belgian Strong Ale" Blind Tasting 07. Light malty aroma, light and dark bread, cookie, lightly yeasty, dough, wood, and vanilla. Clear red amber in color, with a creamy light brown tall velvety head. Excellent lacing. Lightly sweet flavors, molasses, alcohol hidden, a little too watery. Creamy texture. A pretty decent beer.

Bottle.Poured it a sniffter, first the head grew to fast so the beer may be a little vrongtasting. The body is dark hazy red brown with huge creamy head. Aroma is of banana, vanila and its sour. Theres a lot of flavors, spicy and citrusy, sweet and syrapy, banana and raisins. The aperance is medium thick not a lot carbonatin, but thats probably caused by the bad pour of me. A nice beer.

75 cl. bottle. The head is nice and lasting, and the lace is thick and does not disappear. The color is mahogany and the aroma has notes of plum, hops and a bit of alcohol. The mouthfeel is oily and prickly. The flavour is sweetish and has a lot of notes like plum, roasted malt, candy sugar, toffee and sweet licorice. There is a light, but delicate bitterness in the entire finish that gives a suitable counterweight to the sweet impression. Alcohol turns up in the end, but not in a disturbing way. I think this beer should not be warmer as 15 degrees Celcius, otherwise it loose some of it’s magic.

Bottle from Systembolaget. A little disappointed, not very complex, all alcohol and spicy banana. Thin (for a Trappist that is..) Good, but not on par with its brethren.
