Aroma is sweet, some caramel, some cranberries - nothing that is easy to discern. Powerful taste, some peppery notes, vinious (but not too much), a sherry-like finish. Good, but not magnificent. Chocolate brown in colour with a medium strength off-white head of good body and massive thick lacing. Chocolate and malt nose shows good balance. Ok if not great. More chocolate on the palate. Fairly simple flavour profile yet quite effective. Fizzy palate :)

The pour is copper with a very large amount of head. The smell is sweet, some fruity notes, dark fruits, maybe even some sort of banana smell as well. I note maybe some caramel notes in there as well. The taste is leaving me with a little to be desired, but still not bad. The taste is sorta smooth, with only hints of the above mentioned flavors. Enjoyable. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Bottle from Bitter Virtue, BB Apr 08. Reddish brown, long lasting head. bready, caramel and raisiny aroma. Slightly sweet as would be expected with all the malty stuff going on but good earthy hoppiness in the finish and slight tartness to the yeast help balance it out. Pretty good. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Pours copper with a soft off-white head. This beer really kept the head alive, never looked flat. Starts with a kinda dark fruity, molasses, and caramel malt taste. Lingering spice throughout with a smooth mouthfeel, dry finish, and light sourness. Very nice beer with a ton of flavor that changes as this beer warms. By the last sips more of a earthy and musty notes were coming out in the finish accenting the light sourness and blending with the yeast spiciness.
