Pours a beautiful brown with an amber hue and a thick, dense, creamy tan head. The aroma is fruity of dates and brown sugar with a touch of yeast. It’s a very lively beer, with a brown sugar sweetness a date like fruityness, slight junipery spicyness and a subtle nutty finish. Very nice beer. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA

Very bitter, hoppy. The smell is extremely good. Can taste banana, caramel. No acohol taste. Lovely. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Sep 11, 2006 11.2 oz. bottle (11/06). Pours ruddy brown with a large tan frothy/foamy head. Strong aroma of old fruit and a bit of alcohol. Medium carbonation and very fuzzy, kind of strange/mildly unpleasant mouthfeel which covered the taste. What taste there was was excellent, a bit of fruit and spice which covered the alcohol very well. Overall a very good BSA with slightly too-mild taste and strange mouthfeel. Much better at the beginning, that fuzzy mouthfeel lingers. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2006 Thick, bubbly head that settles into a dense layer of microscopic bubbles (and never disappears)--very cappuccino-like. Aroma of fresh fruits (primarily apples), some hints of blueberry, malts, yeast, citrus. Dense and rich flavors, overall somewhat acidic and citrusy, but balanced by a nice malty and yeasty breadiness, some candy-like sweetness and hints of some gentle spiciness. Not as intense and powerful as some others of this style. Soft and silky mouthfeel with a bit of prickliness on the tongue from the carbonation. Definitely a bit of a lighter body than other Trappists or beers of this style. Pretty solid nonetheless. daalamar (403), bardstown, Kentucky, USA

Aroma is fruity and acidicly tart. Flavor is much the same, there is some malt sweetness but is offset by the tart finish. Rough around the edges, dosn’t have much balance.
