Poured with a great big head and a dark brown/amber color with some red edges. Lacing was average and the aroma typical of a Belgian strong ale: sweet and fruity. Flavor was cherry-like and really really sweet (almost seems like they cheated with too much candy sugar - was too sweet if you ask me). Finished with a touch of a yeasty finish. Enjoyable.

Orange brownish colour. Nice head. Sweet but aroma of fruit. Very enjoyable. Had it at the Bier Market, in Toronto.

Bottle: Dark red/Brown hazy colour. Aroma of fruit, and sweetnes from the malt. Citric and at the same time a bit of sweet. Nice long bitter finish. Medium body.

From a 33cl. slender long neck brown bottle with a notched bottled on date on the left side of label, 05/04, served in chalice, sampled at cellar temperature. Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy caramel brown with a foamy beige head that settled in a thin foamy lacing, good carbonation. Had a peppery, spicy and dark fruit, plums and dates, yeasty nose with a caramelized malty background and light whiffs of alcohol at the edges. A crisp, carbonated smooth medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Plums and dates taste in the forefront, followed by caramelized malts with a brown bready quality, a peppery alcohol warmth and dry yeasty and caramelized malty finish, the spicy alcohol warmth lingers in the palate. A nice Dubbel, well worth trying if you are exploring Belgian ales.

A very nice pour indeed. Heavy brown ale with a fine head. Very malty with a fruity finish. Good carbonation seems to be a trait of Belgian Ales and this one is no exception. Greatly recommended Belgian Ale.

Pours dark and heavy with a thick foamy head. The aroma is so heavy with malt, that I expect a sweet heavy beer. The beer is very heavy, with a slight sweetness. The flavor of raisins and dried fruit dominate the flavor. The finish is long and a bit cloying.

33cl bottle. Hazy, chunky brown color. Thick tan head. Fruity aroma...fig, banana, phenol spice hinting at perfumey flowers...mouthfeel is light & somewhat spritzy...dry-ish...raisins & dough...yeasty beer, and enjoyable for that reason...

11.2 oz bottle. Pours mahagony with a tall foamy-fizzy tan head, lasting with sticky lacing. Aroma is alcohol, vinous, oak, yeast (earth, mold, cellar), malt (straw) and perfumey hop notes. Moderately acidic, alcohol burn, faint sweetness, medium bitter, finish is vinous and dry. Warm and full bodied, fizzy and dry palate.
