| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Cloudy brown aleish body with a large light tan head. I poured the entire beer into the new Rochefort glass and it looked sick... in a good way. Aroma was malt dominated with caramel and some raisins and also has strong notes of candy sugar and their trappist yeast. I thought it was balanced quite welll and this was smooth, complex and enjoyable. However, as it warmed a lot (like after an hour) it began to fall apart, but luckily the glass was nearly empty by then. Still not as good as some other trappists out there, but quite enjoyable. gilvanblight (397), Windsor, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Very dark brown pour, very cloudy and near opaque. Thin head that faded pretty fast (this confuses me looking at other rates). Strong alcohol and nut scent with a touch of sweetness. Very strong taste, no subtlety here. Sweet with lots of caramel malts, very nice aftertaste. One drawback was it was highly carbonated. Too carbonated I would say. Would have been perfect otherwize. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Yeast conditioned bottle labeled as best before June 2007. Pours clear amber with giant long-lasting head. Soft carbonation. Spicy clove, fruit and sweet malt in the nose. Fulled bodied Belgian ale that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy clove/fruit/tangy sour flavors. Some medicinal phenolic flavor also detected. Finishes dry with light malt fade. Very good drinkable ale that goes well with food.
