| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2006 Explosive tan sponge of a head settles to form a foam volcano, complete with slopes and a circular caldera. Beneath the surface is a dangerous dark brown/ruby brew spotted with chunks of yeast. Alcohol and yeast in the nose. Candi sugar and dark fruits, also. Flavor adds some rich malt. Full, balanced body. I expexted more from achel. This is good, but too simple for a belgian strong. smcd (366), USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2006 deep amber/brown body with a sizable tan head. Fruity aroma, with a hint of alcohol. Falvor of sweet plums, quickly giving way to a slightly dry, bitter finish. Creamy body went down smooth, and left a great feeling in my mouth. Well the above description fits any number of belgian ales, this one seems to have a little something extra, and its not just the Trappist sticker. A real quality brew. CEZ (372), Milano, Italy
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2006 Deep brown body, tall and lasting beige head. Smells of dark fruit and licorice; some alcohol is also perceived at first. Taste is sweet, with caramel, burnt sugar and raisins, balanced by a late bitterness. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA

Pours a dark ruby / mahogany into the glass with a off-white head that dissipates rather quickly but clings to the glass throughout drinking producing a beautiful lacing down the glass. Aroma of fruits, mainly raisins and prunes but with a hint of apples. Malt and fruit in taste with a hint of alcohol (the alcohol is well concealed in this one). Must get some more of this!! Absolutely wonderful!! thornecb (1796), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Poured dark copper into snifter. Initial active carbonation quickly dissipates to cling to the rim. Raisins and date aromas. Very interesting body - light to medium to full. More raisins and dates to a long trappist malt finish. Quite nice.
