Pours a murky brown color with a fantastic super foamy off white head that dissipates after a few minutes. Aroma of spices, malts, caramel, figs and yeast. Taste of malts, spices, fruit, earth and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is medium in body with a slight alcohol warmth at the finish. This is a nice brew to drink on a cold night.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with huge, lasting tan head. Rich caramel malts in the aroma. Flavor is a little sweet and a little bitter, with a strong alcohol finish, which I guess makes sense given the alcohol content. Not bad, but not really my style. Pours with a head you could build a house on. Flavour is complex - fruity and sweet but finishing spicy and pleasantly bitter. A fine Trappist. GranvilleTim (482), Granville, Illinois, USA

Aroma is like caramel, malts brown, sugar, and sweet bread with some smooth bitterings from the hops. Taste is creamy, malty and in some way nicely balanced. It is very tasteful, soft and very much caramel like. planky84 (122), , Greater London, England
