Brewed in Belgium... Pours a murky brown color with a fantastic super foamy off white head that dissipates after a few minutes. Aroma of spices, malts, caramel, figs and yeast. Taste of malts, spices, fruit, earth and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is medium in body with a slight alcohol warmth at the finish. This is a nice brew to drink on a cold night.

Dec 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with huge, lasting tan head. Rich caramel malts in the aroma. Flavor is a little sweet and a little bitter, with a strong alcohol finish, which I guess makes sense given the alcohol content. Not bad, but not really my style.

Nov 26, 2009 Aroma: citrus, caramel, Apperance:cloudy brown, frothy head, Taste: light sweetness, lightly bitter, Palate: medium body, creamy, soft carbonation. Overall it is a great beer very pleasing.

Nov 24, 2009 Pretty dark beer with a nice whipped head. Aroma of fruits, sugar, sweet. Very nice taste. Taste of alcohol is very light. Some fruits and a bitter aftertaste, best thingt about this beer. Good trappist.

Nov 23, 2009 Dark brown color with small head. Pleasant aroma of candied sugar. In mouth the body is structured, the full taste is sweetish, for then it will end to a light bitterish. Cleaning up and balanced. Good.

Nov 16, 2009 Lots of raisiny goodness on the nose with a hint of nutmeg. Pours with a head you could build a house on. Flavour is complex - fruity and sweet but finishing spicy and pleasantly bitter. A fine Trappist.

Nov 14, 2009 Murky brown pour with a bountiful beige head. The head is very active, whipped up. Aroma of dark fruits/fruit cake, some caramel,spice, and candi sugar. Taste is sweet, fruity, a little alcohol, a little creamy, good carbonation. Leaves a nice aftertaste.

Nov 11, 2009 Warm brown in colour with outstanding beige head. Aroma is like caramel, malts brown, sugar, and sweet bread with some smooth bitterings from the hops. Taste is creamy, malty and in some way nicely balanced. It is very tasteful, soft and very much caramel like.

Bottle from Theatre of WIne, Greenwich. Tan pour with an off white head. Good carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, raisins, burnt wood, pine nuts, caramel. Flavours of lightly roasted malts, caramel, sweet spices, dark fruits. Finishes nice and bitter. Quite pleasant.
