daknole (699), Plantation, Florida, USA Jun 12, 2008 Funny that I haven’t rated this one yet, it awas one of my first Belgian beers ever. As with most, I love it. Dark amber pour with a fluffy head. Aromas and flavors of malt, dried fruit, yeast and maybe some hints of wood. Nice.
lievenvh (13), , Belgium Sep 7, 2008 chocolate, caramel, brown, white foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish, Todeon (178), Höllviken, Sweden Sep 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown color. Aroma is raisains and some malt and caramel. Taste is a bit sweet with a nice touch of apple, rasisins, caramel and some sweet malt. Refreshing and nice! trevor211 (88), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a deep ruby amber, with a thick pillowy head. Lots of fruit on the nose - tart cherries up front, followed by raspberries and plums, caramel and brown sugar - like a fruit pie. Dry, and with lots of carbonation it drinks almost like a champagne. The perfect amount of tartness to complement the sweet flavors matching the aroma - cherries and plums. Also a bit of raisins and hops, with an incredibly dry finish. The carbonation seems a bit much for me, and the flavor not quite as strong as I like, but overall a very tasty ale. AgentSteve (786), Livermore, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 Pours burnt caramel with a meringue like fluffy, cream colored head. The nose is ruch and sweet with dried fruits, caramel and brown sugar. The flavor is quite the same with more fruit influence. Clean finish. espenra (106), Oslo, Norway Aug 14, 2008 33cl bottle from Belgianshop. It poured a dark amber colour with a huge creamy white head that settled down very slowly in the glass. The aroma smells of dark fruits, roasted malts, caramel and alcohol. The flavour is dry and bitter, almost sour and tastes of alcohol, raisins and plum. It has a short aftertaste.
